Radio Active
ZS6JDE is the call sign of Hannes Enslin – I licensed as a Radio Amateur operator in 1994 – First as ZR5JDE (With restricted privileges) while living in Northern KZN and in 2001 I moved to Pretoria and obtained ZR6JDE and in 2004 I upgraded to full privileges and obtaied ZS6JDE:
Since 2005 I have been active and held several temporary call signs while travelling for work purposes in Zambia 9J2JD, Malawi 7Q7JE and Mozambique C91JE and also during a casual visit to Botswana A25JD. These call signs were mainly utilized for 6m, 2m & 70cm EME operations on JT65.
I have had some slow going as Radio Amateur as my situation has changed somewhat between 2008 and 2017. And it was only in 2020 that I was able to return to the radio waves.
I am currently involved in two main types of operations in Ham Radio: I have QRP equipment to participate in RADAR operations. And I also have a very nice rig to facilitate participation in the CQWW SSB and CQWPX SSB as part of a club station ZS6MRK.
I will endeavour to place blog posts and reports of my operations on this site as well as reports of several different experiments I have done and will be doing with Ham Radio Ops.
